- Establishment of the Social Communication, Finances and International Business, Civil Engineering and Mecatronics Engineering programs.
- The First Finances and International Business Project becomes consolidated, comprised by the Business Management, Accounting, Economics, Finances and International Business faculties.
- The first learning strategies through the Interactive Virtual Learning Systems (SAVIO).

- Sanction of new General Statutes through Resolution N° 286 issued on February 21, 2002 by the National Education Office.
- The Higher Council kicks off the Strategic Rerouting Project towards the year 2006.

- Definition of institutional strategic development vectors.
- Construction of an Integral Indicator System for institutional management measurement.
- Development of an installation safety and physical improvement program: Safe Campus Program, relocation and improvement of labs and workshops.
- Project towards the betterment of libraries and welfare spaces.
- Colciencias approves the research project: “Development of a flexible plate minting system” brought forth by the Mechanical Engineering Faculty.

- Achievement of minimum quality standards verification in all our engineering programs and visit of the academic pars towards the renewal of the Industrial Engineering program accreditation.
- Achievement of a qualified registration for the Mecatronics Engineering Program.
- Enthusiastic celebration of the 10th anniversary of our Systems Engineering, Business Management and Psychology programs.
- Renewal of Corporate image which became fitter for the university’s projection and for the members of the academic community.
- Implementation of a quality program in all institutional processes.
- Receipt of approval and qualified registration of the new Dual Management program and inclusion of the university into the Entrepreneurial University System of Latin America, certified by the Certqua agency of the European Union.
- Successful grand opening of the first summer school of the Colombian Caribbean.
- Celebration of our 33rd anniversary of institutional life with the grand opening of our “Luis Enrique Borja Barón” CulturalCenter and Library.
- New inter-university agreements were signed with the Ministry of Culture, Education and Sports of the Virgin Islands, The University of Panama, Tecnologica University of Panama and Nacional del Centro de la Provincia University of Buenos Aires, among others, and another two agreements with SalamancaUniversity and Católica de Guayaquil University are on the verge of being signed. .

- The first book of our Publications Fund is edited and issued, titled “Management of Materials and Inventory Control”.
- Launch of “Research Notebook Nº 19” along with the Colombian Caribbean Observatory.
- CAPSI was put to the service of the community within the framework of the 10th anniversary of the Psychology Program.
- The Colclínker and Propilco Scholarships were awarded within the Excellency and Caribbean Talent Scholarship Program and a new summoning for 2004 is issued.
- New seminars of the Transparency Class were carried out with guests such as Mayor Antanas Mockus, and professor Alvaro Ramírez García.
- The institution is acknowledged as University through resolution No. 2996 issued on November 28, 2003 by the National Education Office.
